Making A Purchase
Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.
We accept Visa and Mastercard.Credit Cards payments and we do not take payment for any item until it is ready to be shipped. Back ordered items are not charged until they are shipped. On-line payments are fully secure and the transaction is made through National Westminster Streamline Merchant Services utilising software provided by Actinic, one of Europes leading business services providers. We accept telephone orders and Card details are entered onto the same secure server and made through the same route as orders placed on-line. We do not keep card details on our system.
When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.
Shipping And Handling
The majority of items will be sent to you via Royal Mail First Class Post. Although Royal Mail state that they "aim to deliver all First Class items of mail the next working day" I'm sure you're aware that this is not a guarantee and does not include weekends or Bank Holidays.
Shipping and Handling charges are closely linked to the Royal Mail's charges and largely by weight. Unlike some businesses we do not seek to make a profit from the postage element of your order and if you check in the Royal Mail's 40 page leaflet "Mail Made Easy" and the associated leaflet "Pricing Made Easy" you'll see how we have arrived at the delivery charges.
Large items such as generators or specialist electrical equipment have separate delivery arrangements and this will be made clear on the ordering page.
We regret that due to the high cost of speedy carriage to far-flung, exotic and offshore parts of the United Kingdom delivery to these places which would include all the Scottish Isles except Skye, Isle of Man, Scilly Isles, The Channel Islands etc. is arranged and priced on an individual basis. If customers from any these areas need extra fast delivery we would be happy to get a quote from the Post Office (NB it will be expensive!). Unfortunately shipping to Eire is classed as Air Mail and priced accordingly so if you are dismayed at the delivery charges south of the border please be assured that we have kept them to a minimum.
We aim to dispatch you order within one day of receipt but to be honest, there are occasions when we may not be as fast as we would like to be because of the nature of our business. Many of you will be aware that we are on the road visiting large outdoor shows throughout the Summer months and if our schedule may interfere with our desired delivery timetable we will contact you to let you know.
Delivery via Royal Mail First Class Mail means that you should receive you order within two working days of dispatch
If your item is not in stock and it is not possible to obtain it within 7 days, we will contact you to see whether you wish us to back order for you or not. If we cannot contact you for any reason then we will assume that you do not wish it back ordered.
For orders made from the UK or the European Union, 20% VAT is added. All other orders are VAT free.
Credit Card Security
Card payment is made via National Westminster Streamline Merchant Services, through secure software provided by Actinic Payments, a leading provider of professional business and payments services in the UK and we comply with all PCI DSS security requirements. - we take the security of your card details very seriously.
We take the security of customers personal information very seriously and to that end we use a secure server when taking and accessing your order details, obviously including your Credit Card details. When the order is placed at our website, credit card numbers are encrypted using 128 bit encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach our computer. They are not held in clear text on any web site.

You will find us a very fair and reasonable business to deal with unless you are part of that small minority of people who think they can take advantage of our good nature. We take the attitude that we would rather see you again next year with a smile on your face than try to be awkward with you as most people only come back to us with genuine grievances.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: We cannot do anything about your return if we don't know who you are, why you are returning the goods or when you bought them - please include all this information in the parcel, if possible with your original order number. It is astounding how many returns we receive with insufficient, illegible, or no information whatsoever regarding the sender and/or what the problem is with the goods - we are far too busy I'm afraid to indulge in lengthy detection searches to try and work out this information from our records (and your name and address alone is not enough), so in future all such inadequately documented parcels will be assigned to a little frequented spot in the office where they can gather dust and cobwebs in peace until the sender eventually realises that nothing has been done about it and contacts us!
